Visit cities of Southern Spain and experience the essence of the Spanish culture

This is an intimate tour with a personal Spanish-speaking tour guide, that will take you into Andalusian cities and towns that are very distinctive of Southern Spain. This unique tour caters to people who wish to travel in Spain and experience its culture as well as study Flamenco dance. Not your typical dance tour, this trip offers a unique opportunity, combining organized classes with a truly memorable itinerary. Apart from providing a cultural flavour, this tour provides the traveler with the sensation of actually living in Spain rather than simply visiting it.

Tour Highlights and other Features

  • A dedicated Spanish speaking tour guide.
  • Package price includes everything once you get into Madrid city centre except for food and drinks (so you can set your budget pre-travel)
  • Classes that cater to the level of the student
  • Cities and towns visited will include: Madrid, Seville, Cordoba, Italica, Jerez de la Frontera, and Cadiz.
  • A folder with pertinant information on the cities to be visited and maps will be provided prior to departure.
  • Meet like minded individuals and other Flamenco students
  • Tour is open to friends, family, and guitar students. Package price will be adjusted accordingly.
  • Other activities such as cooking classes, Spanish classes, etc can be scheduled upon request.

Note: As the tour is open to both those that have taken Flamenco dance in the past and to newcomers, introductory Flamenco classes can be offered prior to departure and dance classes offered in Spain cater to the dance level of the participants.

ITINERARY

This is a unique cultural tour to Seville, Spain that entails taking Flamenco classes and visiting several Andalusian cities and towns.

Day 1 – Sunday June 6
Arrival in Madrid and train ride to Seville.

Day 2 – Monday June 7
Morning Flamenco dance class
Seville orientation and walking tour including Barrio Santa Cruz, the city centre and Shopping district. El Barrio Santa Cruz is Seville’s Medieval Juderia (Jewish quarter), which is today known for its tangle of quaint, winding streets and lovely plant-decked plazas. The walk will also include a visit Casa Pilatos, one of Seville’s finest noble mansions.

Day 3 – Tuesday June 8
Morning Flamenco dance class
Tour of Seville’s ‘Alcazar’. The ‘Alcazar’ is a Moorish palace/castle that was occupied by many Spanish Monarchs following the defeat of the Moors.
Evening Flamenco show

Day 4 – Wednesday June 9
Morning Flamenco dance class
Afternoon visits to ‘el Parque Maria Luiza’, a park with 3500 magnificent trees; Plaza España, one of Seville’s favourite relaxation spots with fountains and mini-canals; and around the river area to view the ‘Torre de Oro’ and the Plaza de Toro (Bullfight ring).
Evening off.

Day 5 – Thursday June 10

Day 6 – Friday June 11

Visit to Seville’s Cathedral, one of the biggest in the world featuring Gothic and Renaissance style architecture.
Evening off

Day 7 – Saturday June 12
Day tour to Cordoba’s centre which will take us into the magnificent Mezquita, a symbol of a worldly and sophisticated Islamic culture, the Alcazar de los Reyes Cristianos, and the city’s well-known Juderia (Jewish quarter).

Day 8 – Sunday June 13
A day at the beach

Day 9 – Monday June 14

Afternoon Walking tour through Triana district and shopping

Day 10- Tuesday June 15
Morning Flamenco dance class
Afternoon trip to Jerez de La Frontera – visit the Cathedral, take a tour of a Sherry Wine Bodega and Jerez City Centre

Day 11 – Wednesday June 16
Morning Flamenco dance class
Visit to Italica in the afternoon. Italica was the first Roman town in Spain. It is partly restored and has one of the biggest Roman amphitheatres

Day 12 – Thursday June 17
Morning Flamenco dance class
Afternoon and Evening off for last minute shopping.

Day 13 – Friday June 18
Morning Flamenco dance class
Depart back to Madrid

Day 14 – Saturday June 19
Walking tour of Madrid and some of its monuments.

Day 15 – Sunday June 20
Depart back to Calgary.

PRICING

Tour price includes:

  • Accommodations for 14 nights (an additional night can be added at an additional cost)
  • 15 hours of Flamenco classes
  • Train trip from Madrid to Seville and back with the AVE (high speed train – 2 hour trip)
  • Transportation to all other cities included on the trip from Seville and from and to bus or train stations
  • Entry into:
    • Sevilla: the Cathedral, the Alcázar, Plaza de Toro and Casa Pilatos
    • Jerez: Sherry Bodega and Tapas
    • Itálica: Ruins
    • Córdoba: Mezquita, Alcázar and Synagogue
    • One Flamenco show at a Tablao
  • Thermal Baths (will be scheduled upon arrival into Seville)
    • Spanish speaking tour guide available 24/7

Price: $2550 (based on Double occupancy)

Note: Assistance in finding flights can be provided upon request. Also note that travel via airports other than London are recommended. London airports are busier, have more security and transfers between airports is not simple. Please consult with us for further information.


TERMS AND CONDITIONS

Payment, Terms and Conditions

  • There will be a $500 non-refundable deposit per person made upon booking. The deposit will be refunded if the tour is cancelled due to insufficient number of participants. Please book before March 12, 2010.
  • Full payment is due 40 days before the start of the holiday (April 28, 2010)

Cancellation Policy:

  • More than 40 days notice: Deposit is forfeited.
  • 40-22 days: 30% of tour fare
  • 21-8 days: 50% of tour fare
  • 7 –day of departure: 100% of tour fare

These cancellation fees also apply to additional accommodations booked prior to and after the tour. However, Hotel accommodations which are cancelled within 14 days of the booked dates, incur a 100% cancellation charge.
